Using a microcontroller is quite essential to any form of automation – whether robotics, UAV, or smart home technologies. Put simply, microcontrollers are the first steps in making any machine smart, or to make the tools for home automation come alive.
At this workshop, we covered all the different hardware categorised as Microcontrollers and the key difference between this and a Single Board Computer. We also introduced the latest development board by Intel – the Galileo, that can be used as a Headless Development unit, as well as a replacement to Arduino hardware, as it is capable of running code inputted from the Arduino IDE.
