Robotics and Micro-controllers – the two concepts are inseparable. Every robot needs a micro-controller to function. The Intel Galileo, and it’s Arduino emulator allow for a great interface for developers to test out the best microcontroller for their robotic projects. With the added ability of running the Native Linux environment simultaneously, the Galileo becomes a great platform for Robotics.
This workhsop, however, focused only on the Arduino aspect of things, specifically on making the Robot see where they are going and possibly avoid obstacles. The participants successfully mated the Galileo, loaded with the Obstacle Avoidance algorithm, with a simple robot – sure enough, they were able to successfully make the robot avoid hitting any obstacles in it’s path.
