Differently abled individuals are becoming increasingly independent over time. Their residences, too, could be built to give them that much more control over their surroundings, leading to greater sense of pride, and confidence of being more independent. Simple hardware hacks to make their homes, smarter, and in their control, can be achieved through a combination of Arduino based solutions and an Android device.

Through this workshop, we shared the very basics of using some unique sensors, building a feedback mechanism, and even coding a simple android application to listen to the notifications sent by these sensors, and trigger smart phone notifications.
